It’s time to whip out those needle for a special little one (or three!) in your life. This project would make an adorable Easter sweater or a light cardigan for cool summer evenings. Learn fundamental techniques in this class, such as basic top-down sweater construction, how to read a chart, separate out sleeves, work with double pointed needles, attach a button to your knitting, and more!

Skill Level Advanced Beginner/Intermediate (Knows hoe to cast on, knit, purl without instruction. Has worked on DPNs in the past)

MATERIALS REQUIRED (yarn, books or patterns, needles, notions, etc.):

  • Norwegian Fir Top Down Cardigan
  • Yarn: Pima Rino (preferred) or Plymouth Cashmere de Cotone (sample)

0-3 months: 450 yards

3-6 months: 550 yards

6-12 months: 550 yards

12-18 months: 700 yards


  • One pair 3.75mm US 5 extra-long straight needles or circulars (32” would be best)
  • One set 3.75mm US 5 double pointed needles
  • Stitch markers
  • Stitch holders or waste yarn
  • One button
